Kelly moved to Canada and had to mail her 2019 tax return to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). She mailed her return earlier this year, but by August, she hadn’t received confirmation that the IRS had received her return, and she had not yet received her refund. The October 15 deadline to file taxes was approaching, and as she was expecting over $12,000 back in her refund, the delay was causing her financial stress. After multiple attempts to contact the IRS, Kelly grew frustrated as she was unable to resolve her issue. That’s when she reached out to Rep. Allred for assistance.

Upon hearing of Kelly’s troubles, Rep. Allred inquired to the IRS on the status of her refund, and was able to confirm that there were some issues that needed to be resolved. After providing the IRS with the information they needed to finish processing her return, Kelly received her tax refund, with interest for the delay.
