Congressional Veteran Commendation

The Congressional Veterans Commendation (CVC) is a nominations-based program designed to recognize the military service and community involvement/service of veterans residing in the 32nd Congressional District.

All nominations are reviewed by an independent Review Board which will recommend the winners of the 2019 Congressional Veterans Commendation. The 2019 CVC honorees will have to option to be interviewed for the Veterans History Project (www.loc.gov/vets) through the Library of Congress. Honorees will be announced by Congressman Allred during his November town hall. Nomination packets are due on November 06, 2019.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Veteran must currently reside in Congressional District 32. You can verify your address by going to www.house.gov and entering the veterans zip code in the "Find your Representative" search box.
  • Veteran was active duty in the United States Armed Forces, or a reservist called to active duty.
  • Veteran retired from the United States Armed Forces or was honorably discharged.
  • Veteran has contributed to his community
  • Veteran has not previously received the Congressional Veteran Commendation.

Nominations Instructions:

Please submit the following items through this online form or in one cohesive package with this form, to 100 N Central Expy, Suite 602, Richardson, TX 75154, by November 6, 2019 or by e-mail at samuel.acosta@mail.house.gov.

  • Nomination form
  • A 1-2 page letter detailing why the veteran deserves the Congressional Veterans Commendation. The letter should include details about the veteran's service as well as how he/she has contributed to the community.
  • Current photo of the veteran
  • Copy of veterans DD-214
  • Copies of photos, military records, news clippings and other two-dimensional memorabilia which help you to tell the story for the veteran's military and community service. These items are considered supplemental and are not required. Please submit copies of all documents and limit supplemental items to three, 8.5"x11", pages. DO NOT SUBMIT ORIGINALS.
