There is bipartisan agreement in Congress on the need for substantial investment in infrastructure and a final wave of COVID-19 relief, said Colin Allred, U.S. Congressman for Texas’ 32nd Congressional District, during a discussion hosted by the Dallas Regional Chamber and moderated by Chris Lawrence of WFAA.
Democratic U.S. Reps. Eddie Bernice Johnson and Colin Allred, both of Dallas, authored a similar letter Thursday. Houston-area Reps. Sylvia Garcia, Al Green, Lizzie Pannill Fletcher and Sheila Jackson Lee, all Democrats, also protested the decision to end the funding in a letter to FEMA and HHS on Tuesday.

U.S. Reps. Colin Allred, D-Dallas, and Eddie Bernice Johnson, D-Dallas, wrote a letter Thursday to Azar and Gaynor, supporting the county of Dallas’ request for additional testing supplies.
“Testing is critical to beating this virus. It must be easily accessible to everyone, but the lack of a national strategy from the Administration has left North Texas without necessary resources. It’s why Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson and I fought hard to protect the sites in Dallas,” said U.S. Rep. Colin Allred.
Representative Colin Allred issued a statement Tuesday, advocating for Dallas. The statement reads, “Testing is critical to beating this virus… We must make testing easily accessible to everyone, but the lack of a national strategy has left North Texas without the necessary resources."
The new Garland VA Medical Center is expected to serve as many as 8,000 veterans, making primary care more convenient.
“In-person C&P exams have resumed in twenty cities across the country, yet we have not heard how you intend to ensure sanitation measures, supply protective equipment to veterans and providers, and manage the growing backlog,” wrote the lawmakers, who were Luria, Gilbert Cisneros Jr. (D-Calif.), Rep.
Cruz, Cornyn and U.S. Rep. Colin Allred say they want answers from FEMA, and hope that they can get FEMA to reverse its decision. The substantial loss of city and school district property should be fairly compensated.
