Allred Attends Bipartisan Panel at White House Child Care Summit

December 12, 2019

Washington, D.C. -- Congressman Colin Allred (TX-32) today attended a White House Summit on Child Care. He spoke at a bipartisan panel on parental leave where he highlighted his work on the bipartisan bill, the Advancing Support for Working Families Act, a building block for paid leave policies that would allow families the option to advance up to $5,000 of their child tax credit in the first year of a child's life or the first year a family adopts a child.

"I was raised by a single mom, and have a young child of my own, so I know first-hand how expensive a new baby can be and the tough choices families have to make. I am encouraged by the conversation today, and I remain committed to working with Republicans and Democrats to deliver financial help to new parents at a time when they need it most," said Allred. "I was glad to join this important discussion about how we can work together to provide families with financial resources to help them with the arrival of their new baby."
