Allred Introduces Bipartisan Resolution Honoring Life of Holocaust Survivor Jack Repp

March 10, 2020

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Colin Allred (TX-32) today introduced a bipartisan resolution honoring the life of Holocaust survivor and longtime Dallas resident Jack Repp. The resolution recounts his life and his survival after being forced to work in a labor camp in Radom, and how he endured being imprisoned in the Auschwitz and Dachau Concentration Camps.

Repp spent many years sharing his life story with North Texans and people from across the world in hopes that future generations would learn from the past. He spoke to thousands of people at museums, public and private schools, universities, and military bases and remained an active part of the Jewish community.

"Jack Repp's life is one of inspiration, perseverance and moral courage," said Allred. "Out of the darkness, he found light. We are so proud that he called Dallas his home for so many years, and was brave enough to share his story with so many people over the course of his life. I am honored to lead this resolution along with my fellow Texans to celebrate the life of Mr. Jack Repp, and enshrine his memory."

Repp was born on August 16, 1923, in Poland. He moved to the United States in 1949 and settled in Dallas in 1950, where he raised a family and was a member of Temple Emanu-El and Temple Shearith Israel. Repp died peacefully on January 14, 2020.

Mary Pat Higgins the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum President and CEO, said about Jack Repp's work with the museum: "I am profoundly grateful that Jack had the strength and courage to share his testimony with tens of thousands of students and adults alike over the past two decades."

Cosponsors for the resolution are Reps. Pete Olson (TX-22), Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15), Randy Weber (TX-14), Ron Wright (TX-6), Jodey Arrington (TX-19), Van Taylor (TX-03), Veronica Escobar (TX-16), Brian Babin (TX-36), Marc Veasey (TX-33), Sylvia Garcia (TX-29), Will Hurd (TX-23), Michael McCaul (TX-10), and Kenny Marchant (TX-24).
