Allred Joins Bipartisan Colleagues in Voting for Impeachment

January 13, 2021

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Colin Allred (TX-32) released the following statement after joining his colleagues from both sides of the aisle in voting to impeach President Trump with inciting insurrection.

"Today's vote to impeach the President for inciting insurrection was a critical step in ensuring that the use of violence to overturn a free and fair election and subvert the role of a coequal branch of government is never again considered in the United States of America.

"I cast my vote today out of a sense of duty to the North Texans I serve, our shared values, and the oath I swore to the Constitution. This vote was not about partisanship or ideology but rather about affirming that checks and balances exist and that our democracy remains intact.

"The eyes of history, not just in America but across the world, are on the Congress at this moment and I am proud to stand with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle in sending a clear message that there are consequences for violent attempts to undermine our democratic principles."
