Washington, D.C. – Congressman Colin Allred (TX-32), a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the following statement after a bipartisan resolution passed the House that opposes the Administration’s decision to pull troops from northern Syria and the Turkish military incursion that followed.

“The Kurds have been critical partners in the fight against ISIS,” said Allred. “This Administration’s shameful, reckless decision to withdraw troops in northern Syria has led to deadly violence and will jeopardize trust in America across the world. I hope that this resolution can be a starting point for tough action to protect our security partners and prevent the resurgence of ISIS.”

Allred was a cosponsor of the measure which passed with strong bipartisan support. There is an identical bipartisan version of this resolution in the Senate awaiting action.

Last week, Allred joined with 57 colleagues to urge the Administration to take a path forward that does not lead to more deadly instability in the region.
