Press Release

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Colin Allred (TX-32) released the following statement after joining Congressman Hank Johnson’s motion to censure President Trump following his attempt to intimidate Georgia’s Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.

President Trump’s request that Georgia’s Secretary of State overturn the state’s election results and disregard the will of Georgia voters for his own gain is immoral and likely illegal. His continued attempts to subvert our democracy are a threat to our nation and its principles. President Trump’s actions call for his censure, which is why I am joining my colleagues in taking this step to hold the President accountable and protect our democratic process.

“I have decided to join this resolution to censure the President guided by the Constitution and the values I learned growing up in North Texas, not by partisan politics. Our democracy is fundamental to who we are as Americans and I will continue to fight to protect it and to uphold my oath to the Constitution.”
