Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Colin Allred (TX-32) released the following statement after the Trump Administration filed a brief with the Supreme Court arguing for the repeal of the entirety of the Affordable Care Act:

“It bears repeating that in the midst of the worst public health crisis in a generation, this Administration is continuing their malicious effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act, and with it, protections for people with pre-existing conditions.

“This should not be a partisan issue. Since day one in Congress, I’ve fought to push back against this lawsuit, and these efforts have earned bipartisan support.

“If successful, the Administration’s lawsuit would rip away care from millions of Texans and throw our already taxed health care system into chaos. Now is not the time to follow a narrow partisan agenda.

”I’ll work with anyone to lower costs and increase access to health care. I urge the Administration to drop this lawsuit and join the House’s efforts to fix the Affordable Care Act so more folks can get the coverage they need.”

This week Allred joined House leaders to urge passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Enhancement Act, which would increase access to health care and lower costs. Allred also led the effort in the House to push back against this lawsuit, which earned bipartisan support.
