As a Result of Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Allred Helped Pass, $35 Million Headed to DFW Airport

July 7, 2022

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Colin Allred (TX-32), a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, released the following statement after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced that as part of $1 billion in grant awards, $35 million will head to DFW Airport.

“The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law continues to deliver for North Texas by helping to improve our airports which are vital job-creating engines,” said Allred. “This grant is critical to helping DFW Airport reduce its carbon footprint as they work to achieve net-zero emissions by 2030. Our region is rapidly growing, which is why I proudly supported the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to bring long overdue investments just like this to North Texas.”

This grant funding will help construct a zero-carbon electrical central utility plant to assist the airport in achieving its goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2030. Phase 1 will construct the facility and cover two of five terminals. Allred helped secure $10 million for DFW projects, including this one, in the 2022 government funding bill.
