Internships and Fellowships

Washington, DC

In the Washington, DC office, full-time, in-person internships (paid) and fellowships (for college credit) run throughout the fall, spring or summer semesters for college students or recent graduates. Preference for the paid internship will be given to those who have a need for financial assistance. The hours are flexible to accommodate students' course schedules, but generally run 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. when Congress is in session, and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. when not in session.

In Washington, DC, interns' responsibilities will vary. They may be asked to answer phones, run errands, research legislation for the Member and legislative staff, attend hearings and briefings, answer constituent letters on various issues before the House, compile media clips, and assist with social media. As a result, interns and fellows learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a congressional office. Deadline to apply for the Summer 2024 term is March 25, 2024.

District

District-based fellowships are also available for college credit. Fellows’ responsibilities may include research, constituent correspondence, community outreach at events, assisting in constituent casework, and other District-based projects as assigned. Time commitments will include work during general office hours as well as occasional community events that may occur during evenings or weekends.
